Proclaiming the Lord’s Death: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 and Isaiah 53

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her seed; He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”

Deuteronomy 18:15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.” Quoted in Acts 3:22

2 Samuel 7:12“When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.”

Isaiah 7:14Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. Quoted in Matthew 1:23

Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 53:

We Proclaim, as a Corporate Declaration of this Most Victorious Death.

1. We Proclaim the One Despised and Rejected: 1–3

Comes to His Own and His own people did not receive Him. John 1:11
He Speaks the Word that points to Himself as God, the Son of God and the Christ and they pick up stones to kill Him not once but twice.

John 8:58 where He said, “Truly, Truly I say to you before Abraham was born I am.
59 Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him….

John 10:30 where He said, I and the Father are one (essence). 31 The Jews pied up stone again to stone Him.

His Relatives came to get Him to take custody of Him; for they were saying “He has lost His senses.” Mark 3:21
John 7:1-5 seems to see His brothers mocking Him because in verse 5is says for not even His brothers were believing in Him.
He is Rejected and Mocked during His Trial.

Matthew 26:67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him with their fists and others slapped Him 68 and said, Prophesy to us You Christ; who the one who hit You?
He is Denied by Peter, Betrayed by Judas, and of all the people He touched, John and His mother and a few other women were the only followers at the cross.

He is Forsaken by His Father.

Matthew 27:46 About the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice saying, “My God, My God, Why have You Forsaken Me?”

2. We Proclaim the One Who Died In Your Place: 4–6

To Bear Your Griefs and Carry Your Sorrows
To Be Pierced For Our Transgressions:
To Be Crushed: for Our Iniquities:
To Be Chastened for Our Peace:
To Be Scourged For Our Healing

John 19:1-3; 16; 33-37

– To Cause the Iniquity of us all to fall on Him!

3. We Proclaim the One Who Suffered Silently What was Due You: 7–9

4. We Proclaim The One Who Became the Perfect Sacrifice: 10–12

Hebrews 4:14-16 The Great High Priest Who Made A Way!

5. We Proclaim The Effectual Work of the Sacrifice: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

This is My Body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.

• The Body of Jesus Bore Your Grief! Isaiah 53:4
• The Body of Jesus Bore Your Sins! 1 Peter 2:21-25

This Cup is the New Covenant in My blood:

• The Blood Cleanses and Forgives You!

Hebrews 9:14 – The Blood of Christ Cleanses your conscience form dead works to save the living God! Verse 23: Without the shedding of blood there is not forgiveness of sins!

• The Blood Provides Constant Access to the Father!

Hebrews 10:19 Since therefore brothers we have confidence to enter in to the Holy Place by the Blood of Jesus!

• The Blood Makes Way for Godliness!
• The Blood Pays For Your Redemption!
• By His Blood You Are Justified! Romans 5:9
• Jesus’ Shed Blood Makes Way for Victory! Revelation 12:11

He Taught Us to Proclaim His Death!
Matthew 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me!
