Cottonwood’s five core values

God’s Glory
The Bible says that we are created in the image of God, and we believe that the ultimate reason that we live is so that our lives can reflect the glory of God. We believe that there is nothing more important to God than His glory, and He wants to reflect this glory through the way we live our lives. How we work, parent, relate to our spouses, spend our time, our resources, have fun and live our lives are all opportunities to reflect God and His glory!

Loving Well
When Jesus was asked which was the most important of all God’s commandments, He said that loving God and loving one another was what mattered most. Loving well means demonstrating our commitment to serve, honor, and worship God with our lives. It also means caring, serving, and laying down our lives for our neighbors. Whether that is our closest neighbor (our spouses), our neighbors next door (in our communities), or distant ones (those in communities around the globe), we are committed to the ideal of loving our neighbors and loving them well!

Community
When God created man, He quickly declared that it was not good for him to be alone. We were created for community, for one another! We recognize this need for one another, and try to create ample opportunities to share life’s journey with one another. We believe that life is best when it is shared!

Life Change
When someone believes in Jesus Christ, the Bible declares that he is a new creation! This transformation is a God-work, but it begins and is activated by our faith. It is our desire that through the sanctifying work of the Word and support of one another that we realize the life change that God intends!

God’s Word
We believe in and value the Bible as God’s very Word, which teaches us not only how to live, but is the revelation of the living God Himself. So much more than a bunch of rules, it provides a portrait of who God is, and tells a beautiful story of both His pursuit of you, and plans for you. It is essential that we hear from God, and His Word is how we know what is on His heart and mind. It is our desire to be a people of God’s Word!
